TC-5 / TC-5A
The TC-5 is designed to verify the turns count of bobbin or free wound coils. When calibrated with a "Production Standard" coil, the TC-5 can measure to an accuracy of 99.9% or 1 turn in 1,000 for coils of less than 10,000 turns. When using a Calibration Series probe, all coils within the size range stated for the particular probe can be measured with an accuracy of 99.5%.
The standard TC-5 Turns Counter is fitted with a 4 1/2 digit display. A Hi/Lo range switch allows changes from the 1,999.9 to the 19,999 range. A Polarity LED changes from Red to Green, depending on the relative polarity of the coil being measured. The TC-5A is a microprocessor controlled unit that offers several refinements. An internal reference coil reduces temperature drift from 2% to .1% per 10 Degrees F. This allows the instrument to be used with less reliance on an external "Standard". The TC-5A also provides Autoranging and turns count to 64,000, although accuracy above 10,000 turns can be affected by Q and interwinding capacitance factors. Both versions of the TC-5 offer fast and accurate measurement of coils. Test probes to measure a wide range of coil sizes are readily interchanged. Advanced probe technology helps to make the TC-5 an economic and reliable test instrument. Power: Controls: Test Frequency: Test Voltage: The Calibration Series will measure a variety of coil sizes with an accuracy of 99.5% without the need for recalibration. Select the proper probe for the coil sizes that you wish to test. The "ID" and "OD" abbreviations refer to the inner and outer coil diameters respectively. "Max Height Variation" is a relative dimension which refers to the maximum coil height difference that can be measured within 0.5% with a single calibration setting.
