Head Relapping/Repair

We are well equipped to relap and repair worn tape heads. Heads sent in for repair are put through a series of inspections to determine their condition and expected head life. Inspection procedures include evaluation under microscope and inductance measurement. These two steps allow us to estimate useful head life. In most cases, the cost of relapping is much less than the cost of replacing worn heads. Charges are determined by the tape format and head type. Heads sent in on their assemblies will be removed from their mounting, relapped and optically realigned. Alignment charges are determined by type of assembly and time.
